Rustic and contemporary design collide inside this glass cabin, surrounded by forest on Washington State’s Swinomish Indian Reserve.
Sneeoosh cabin – available via Boutique Homes from $335 per night – was designed by Seattle-based Zeroplus Architects and turns the traditional rural retreat on its head.

Its ground floor has wrap-around glazing hung from metal beams to frame panoramic views the woodlands, as well as Hope and Whidbey islands and the Olympic Mountains beyond. Don’t worry about feeling exposed though – surrounding bushes help blanket the cabin from prying eyes.
Rustic touches can be found via exposed beams and timber floors, and a cosy woodburning stove in the living room. Two bedrooms are tucked beneath the oversized awning-like roof, which cocoons the building and provides shade for its terraces below.
Sneeoosh cabin has direct access to a beach and quiet cove, as well as kayaking and hiking trails. It offers a digital detox too – there’s no wifi meaning meaning you can switch-off and get to grips with mother nature.
