A year after the untimely passing of David Bowie, his former home has gone on sale in New York, complete with the music legend’s Yamaha piano.

Bowie lived at the Central Park-facing condominium in Essex House – now on the market for $6.495m via Corcoran – with his wife Iman from 1992 to 2002. When the couple sold it they also parted way with the instrument, which still sits in the apartment’s 28ft-wide living room.

The 1,877 sq ft Manhattan property comes with three bedrooms, a wood-panelled study, and new kitchen, kitted out with polished granite countertops, custom cabinetry and Miele appliances.

Essex House was built in 1931 and blurs residential and hotel living, with maid and room service available at the landmark 43-storey Art Deco skyscraper, famous for its red neon sign and its celebrity residents.

But it’s not the Bowie property currently available – his tropical island home Mustique is also available to rent starting at $40,000 per week.
