Coworking space ARC Club balances form and function in London’s Camberwell

Colourful but still minimalist

Designed as an affordable shared office space for South London’s creative community, ARC shows that coworking clubs don’t have to sacrifice beauty for functionality.

The Camberwell Green outpost is the second ARC to open in London, both set up by architect Caro Lundin. Memberships start at a budget-friendly £9 a month – but that doesn’t mean the interiors are lacking.

Lundin has installed bright orange tubular steel furniture in the downstairs cafe, while birch plywood panels hide cupboards and meeting rooms. Members can gather around shared tables or perch on a burgundy-coloured banquette.

And when it comes to phone calls and meetings, there’s a row of six private booths behind a pastel pink wall. Lundin has left the rest of the space mostly as she found it, giving brick walls a fresh coat of white paint and hanging them with artwork provided by local gallery Bosse & Baum.

Perks include Allpress coffee in the ARC cafe, member events, and the ability to use the space on a pay-hourly basis if needed.
