Bergen townhouse renovated by architect Todd Saunders is for rent

Todd Saunders is famous for his dramatic coastline constructions such as the Squish House on Canada’s Fogo Island and the Aurland Lookout in Norway. Now it is possible to stay in one of his urban developments – a restored townhouse in his adopted city of Bergen.

Available to rent from £145 a night via Airbnb, The Little White House is a three-storey Nordnes dwelling that dates back to the 1700s. Saunders’ team has maintained its historic structure and updated its facade, replacing the original small windows with larger ones.

Taking the lead from its clapboard facade, interiors are an exercise in Scandinavian minimalism with white used predominantly throughout. It contrasts with the interior doors, floors, and furniture which are all done in douglas spruce wood.

Hits of colour come via marble countertops, the stark concrete staircase and patterned tiling in the hallway and bathroom.

The two-bedroom Bergen holiday home is just minutes away from the city centre and right near the Nordnes peninsula and its swimming fjords.
