A contemporary beach villa in Comporta reinterprets a traditional cabana

The architecture prioritises outdoor living

Set among pine forest, rice fields and Atlantic dunes, Cabana captures the quiet elegance of Comporta’s coastal landscape. Located in Carvalhal — one of the area’s most sought-after enclaves — the 320sqm five-bedroom villa sits on a 1,762sqm plot within walking distance of the beach, with its Sublime Beach Club and Sal Restaurant. Priced at €5.5m, it combines architectural restraint with seamless indoor–outdoor living.

The villa was designed as three interconnected ‘cabins’ that reimagine Comporta’s traditional fisherman’s huts. Their white lime render, natural timber and generous glass openings help blur the boundaries between house and landscape. The layout includes six bathrooms, three ground-floor suites and a main suite on the upper level with panoramic views over rice fields. Vaulted ceilings and bespoke joinery introduce warmth and scale, while two enclosed rooms and twin laundry spaces provide flexibility for guests or extended stays.

Outdoor living is central to the scheme. Terraces shaded by pergolas lead to an 18-metre boomerang-shaped infinity pool, with an entertainment deck and rooftop terrace overlooking the pines. Landscaped gardens planted with lavender and century-old olive trees integrate the house into its setting — an expression of contemporary Comporta living that balances privacy, calm and connection to nature.
