Gratton + Legendre designed this modern beach house in West Sussex which has views across the English Channel.
The 4,400 sq ft home in Shoreham-by-Sea is for sale via The Modern House for £2.85m and is wrapped in a rustic skin of cedar cladding and render that echoes its coastal setting.
The main part of the house contains a sweeping kitchen, living room and dining rooms with a double-height void over the painted stone fireplace. Textures are at play across the interiors, with parquet floor running underfoot and oak cabinetry, concrete worktops and bare plaster walls echoing the natural textures of the exterior.
Reclaimed features have been installed too, including Crittall doors, while an oak staircase leads to a gallery overlooking the living room, below.
Three bedrooms and a study fill the upper level, which is flanked by a huge deck looking south towards the water.
And while all of the bedrooms have access to the terrace, the master bedroom has its own private balcony which peeks out over the beach house’s gardens, which merge with the shingly beach.
