TheAddresses launches with Casa Um – a minimalist Algarve retreat

Set between orange groves and the Atlantic ocean, Casa Um in Portugal’s Tavira is a minimal and modernist take on Algarve architecture launched by new hospitality venture theAddresses.

The guesthouse is the first for the brand, which will offer architect-designed holiday homes across the southernmost region of the country, each renovated by a different Portuguese practice. Guests will have access to a concierge that can book them on trips and experiences, as well as a curated guide to the best local spots and a cabinet stocked with Portuguese wines.

Casa Um occupies a secluded rural spot outside the east Algarve town of Tavira, with interiors designed to help guests enjoy the slower pace of life that comes with the bucolic location. The building, which was previously used as a farmhouse, has been completely renovated by Atelier Rua.

Whitewashed walls and concrete floors laid with woven mats create a soothing atmosphere inside the guesthouse, which has space to sleep eight. The area once used as a farmhouse is now a kitchen and living space that opens onto a private patio – complete with the original bread oven – and the stables have been converted into a dining room. Bedrooms on the ground floor also have their own private patios.

Casa Um sits in a hectare of land which includes a pool. The house is also located close to the coastline, for guests that want to explore further, as well as the towns of Tavira and Olhão. The home starts at €1,600 for a week-long stay and is available to book exclusively through theAddresses website.
