Rental of the week: a converted factory in Paris’ Latin Quarter

Filled with natural light

This converted garment factory in Paris’ 5th arrondissement has been reborn as a lofty urban bolthole.

Rue Blainville sits within the city’s Latin Quarter, famous for its universities and for being the historic home of Paris’ intellectual elite. The building is within walking distance of Notre Dame, as well as a plethora of boulangeries and cafes.

Traces of its industrial past can be seen in the large Crittall windows and double-height living and dining room, which opens out onto a walled garden. Glazed roofing brings light into the building’s core.

A mezzanine level holds the master bedroom, which peers down over the living room. Two more bedrooms are tucked into the basement, accessed by a sleek glass and steel staircase, with the apartment sleeping up to six in total.

The house – available to rent via One Fine Stay – has been furnished with a mix of contemporary and mid-century design pieces, and there’s a vinyl record player and projector for quiet nights in.
