Holiday home of the week: a minimalist retreat on the Greek island of Paros

React Architects have given cubic Cycladic homes a fresh spin with this holiday home on the Greek island of Paros.

Conceived in collaboration with its owners – who work in film and music – the modern architecture rental is built into the landscape of the Kamari settlement. It wraps around a stepped terrace, a swimming pool and a 100-year-old olive tree.

Guests can climb onto the building’s flat roof to take in the panoramic views of the Aegean sea.

Each of the villa’s three bedrooms is roughly the same size – ‘to prevent any jealousy amongst family members,’ say the owners.

They add: ‘We wanted the house to be super cosy, practical, welcoming, enjoyable and comfortable, so we have hand-picked a selection of elegant vintage furniture from the 20th century from flea markets in Paris and Athens, and our favourite second-hand shop in Paris.’

And, as you would expect from a duo of film buffs and music lovers, the house comes equipped with a video projector and a HiFi sound system with vintage 1970s speakers.
