It’s little surprise this voluminous, art-filled Paris home has a creative past…

Set off a quiet, cobbled courtyard in the Louis-Blanc-Aqueduc district of the city, the dwelling was once the studio of designer Gilbert Poillerat, a master wrought-iron craftsman. It’s current owners have continued the creative connection, filling the 155 sq m studio with bookcases and lining its vast walls with canvases and sculptures.

Communal areas are spread over the lower level of the Paris property – on the market via Patrice Besse for €1.18m – including a huge 65 sq m living room. It has a soaring 4.9-m-high ceiling studded with skylights, and an open kitchen and dining area.

A floating staircase leads from the kitchen up to a mezzanine overlooking the space, and the master bedroom. Meanwhile a second bedroom forks off the living room and leads straight out onto the terrace.

That’s not all though: the Paris property also has a studio flat, which could be converted into a separate apartment (potential rental income, or extra space for guests?)

The Louis-Blanc-Aqueduc district is Paris’s 10th arrondissement, set between the Gare-du-Nord and the Gare-de-l’Est train stations. The apartment is close to the Canal Saint-Martin, restaurants and bars.
