Moritz Kundig’s landmark Wallmark House lists in Washington for $1.1m

This midcentury Washington property comes with stellar pedigree – Wallmark House was designed by Moritz Kundig, father of Olson & Kundig co-principal Tom Kundig, and has only had two owners in its lifetime.

Built for the Wallmark family in 1962, the three-bedroom home sits on a secluded 10-acre woodland plot on Long Lake’s shore in Nine Miles Falls, just outside Spokane.

The Washington property is listed with Windermere Real Estate for $1.1m and has been carefully spruced up by its current owners. The midcentury-modern enthusiasts have kept custom teak cabinetry in the kitchen and terrazzo tiled floors, and cedar ceilings throughout the 3,390-sq-ft dwelling.

Two fireplaces, built using local lava stone, divide the living room and den and while interiors are bright thanks to cleverly positioned skylights.

Meanwhile, views of the lake can be enjoyed by Wallmark House’s decks and patios, the latter of which lead down to 7000 ft of private shoreline.
