Casa Modico offers spartan living on Brazil’s northeast coast

Unrestricted beach living

Atelier Branco has distilled residential architecture down to its simplest form to create minimalist beach house Casa Modico in Brazil’s São Miguel do Gostoso region.

The spartan dwelling is part of the Sitio São Pedro – a working farm or fazenda, in Brazilian Portuguese – and maximises its unspoilt, picturesque location with a satisfyingly symmetrical plan comprising two blocks separated by an al fresco dining terrace.

A living room with ocean views and two bedrooms fill one volume of Casa Modico, while the second houses two more bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen with access to a vegetable garden and fire pit for outdoor cooking.

The Brazilian holiday home was completed in 2019 and has unrestricted access to the beach, celebrated as one of the best in the Rio Grande do Norte state, popular with kite surfers, and horse riders. It’s offered for sale via Architecten Woning with price on request.
