It’s all in the details at New Orleans’ Maison de la Luz hotel

Old world glamour pervades the rooms at Atelier Ace-designed hotel Maison de la Luz in New Orleans.

Atelier Ace worked closely with Studio Shamshiri on the interiors, sourcing antique pieces from across the city and customising them for the hotel’s 67 rooms. Quirky details, such as snake-shaped shower handles, are juxtaposed with more classic elements including hand-embroidered linen and silk-tasselled keys.

Walls in muted colours emphasise the colours and patterns of carpets and furniture in guest rooms – which start from $279 per night – but downstairs Atelier Ace embraced something more vibrant for the hotel’s Bar Marilou. There, bright red paint clashes with animal print stools and mirrored shelves. Elsewhere in the hotel, guests can enjoy pieces by local artists, as well as tiger-shaped rugs by Studio Shamshiri.

Maison de la Luz is located in New Orleans’ Arts Warehouse district.
