Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian Carr House is for sale near Chicago

Light, space and surrounds are all in harmony at this freshly listed Frank Lloyd Wright home in Glenview, approximately 25 miles northwest of Chicago.

The John Carr Residence was constructed in 1950. It has been owned by two families over the last 70 years, each of whom has respected and maintained Wright’s simple though all-encompassing vision during their custodianship.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s classic raw material palette and stone floors run throughout the four-bedroom home, with mahogany ceilings and geometric brick cut-outs adding an extra dimension to the Usonian property, especially in its vaulted living room.

Furniture and fixtures conceived by the maestro are also intact, with the Illinois property listed for $1.659m via Erica Goldman and Christopher Stephens of Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty.

The midcentury dwelling is the only FLW home in Glenview and is bedded into a wooded three acre-plot, complete with an in-ground heated swimming pool and Usonian-style shed.

An additional three-acre plot is also for sale by separate negotiation if its future owner wants to add to their privacy.
