East London’s Button Factory Lofts blend rustic and industrial finishes

Fentiman Design and Orsinibrewin Architects have transformed the top floor of a former button factory in London’s Hackney into three soaring lofts – now for sale via The Modern House.

The trio of dwellings retain the industrial proportions of the Victorian factory and have a rustic material palette that pays homage to the building’s past while utilising contemporary technologies. This includes the introduction of cross-laminated timber, polished concrete floors and black corrugated steel.

The Button Factory Lofts, which range from £550,000 – £795,000, are outfitted with timber wall panels and ceilings, and bespoke fitted kitchens and cabinetry. White walls contrast pale timber surfaces, while pitched ceilings and a plethora of windows flood their interiors with light.

Each London property has an enclosed brick balcony overlooking the street below, and the flats sit above artists’ studios on the redbrick factory’s ground and second floors.
