Dungeness’s award-winning Pobble House is for sale

Set within the UK’s only desert

One of the most striking pieces of architecture in Dungeness has hit the market, and it’s designed for admiring the stark scenery of Britain’s only desert.

The single-storey Pobble House was designed by Guy Hollaway Architects – who named it after the ancient Kentish word for pebble – and it resembles a trio of interconnecting pods. Hollaway clad the house in materials such as corten steel and Siberian larch that could withstand the wind and rain and bed into the arid terrain.

Previously let as a holiday home for 10 people, Pobble House is now for sale via The Modern House for £522,000. Its full height and ribbon windows frame the surrounding landscape and a glass corridor connects the home’s three bedrooms.

Dungeness has become something of an architect’s playground: Living Architecture’s award-winning Shingle House and Derek Jarman’s home are just two of the properties nearby.
