Cogels Osylei is one of Antwerp’s most famous streets, and some would even argue it is the city’s most beautiful, lined with 19th and early 20th-century mansions ranging from art nouveau to classical in style. But Cogels Osylei isn’t just about beauty; it’s about connectivity, too. Major roads and Berchem station are just around the corner, and a short tram or bike ride will get you into the heart of the city in mere minutes.

Tucked away on this famous Zurenborg street is Sint Jozef, a striking neo-Gothic architectural residence designed by architect E. Van Not in 1902. Built in red brick, this historic Antwerp property showcases the grandeur and elaborate details typical of the era, featuring pointed arches and complex stonework that underline the style’s verticality and ornamental depth.

The interiors of St Joseph span 479 sq m, and while restored (as recently as 2023), there are plenty of signs of the building’s past: the ground floor of the seven-bedroom home was historically used as a doctor’s surgery with high ceilings. On the first floor are the main living room and dining room, with patios on either side. Herringbone parquet flooring and historic marble fireplaces are original, as are wall and ceiling paintings.

The Antwerp property is listed for sale via Immodôme for €1.285m.
