A warehouse conversion with hidden depths in Wapping, London

What secrets is this warehouse conversion hiding?

Design studio Landmass London installed a hidden doorway inside the bookcase of this warehouse apartment in Wapping. Step through this portal and you’ll find a guest room and a music room, perfect for private gigs.

The apartment’s theatre-producer owner bought it in 2002 and enlisted the practice to reconfigure the space and give it a much-needed refresh following its conversion in the 1980s.

Originally built in 1882, the building stored wool from ships from Australia and New Zealand. Land Practice retained its exposed brick walls and oversized warehouse-style windows, while adding a moody colour palette and parquet flooring to the mix.

It’s on the market for £1.5m via Hampton’s International.
