Airbnb is inviting one lucky couple to spend the night at Juliet’s House in ‘fair Verona’ for Valentine’s Day.
The medieval property is available for the first time on Airbnb and was once inhabited by the Cappelleti family, whose name is similar to Shakespeare’s fictional character in Romeo and Juliet.
Interiors of the 13th-century Verona home are ornately decorated, with frescoed walls, stone fireplaces and period furniture. Guests can tuck into a special meal prepared with two Michelin star chef Giancarlo Perbellini. Afterwards, they can retreat to the bed used in the famed 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet by Italian director Franco Zeffirelli.
The balcony where the star-crossed lovers exchanged affections – now a major pilgrim spot for tourists – was added in the 20th century.
To be in with a chance to win the overnight stay, applicants must pick up their pen and write a letter to Juliet (in English) explaining why they and their partner should be chosen to spend the night at Casa di Giulietta. Submissions must be in by 2 February 2020.
