A terrace of 11 Chelsea townhouses owned by London’s Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals has hit the market in London for £30m.

Savills has been appointed to oversee the sale of the Grade II-listed buildings at 1-11 Foulis Terrace on behalf of the hospital’s trustees.

The brick and stucco London properties date back to the 19th-century and have been used as staff accommodation for the Royal Brompton Hospital since being converted in the 1960s.

But the trustees have decided the buildings, which look onto the Brompton Hospital (re-developed into private residential between 1996-2000), are no longer suitable for this purpose.

Currently arranged over five floors – with additional fourth floor mansards at numbers 10 and 11 Foulis Terrace, and a corridor connecting numbers 1-9 – the properties offer a combined total of 38,447 sq ft, but are in need of complete refurbishment following 60 years of heavy use.

Says Savills director Luke Hawkesbury: ‘This is an extremely unusual freehold asset to come to the market with significant potential for capital growth through enhancement of the existing property.’

Proceeds from the sale of the buildings – which are being mooted for residential redevelopment subject to planning permissions – will be pumped back into the hospital.
