This time capsule midcentury Los Angeles property by Case Study House designer and builder Rodney Walker has just hit the market for $2.995m.

The box-like house is named the Asher Residence after the family Walker built it for in 1949. The Ashers wanted their home to have the spirit of the Case Study Houses – Walker designed three of them – but on a grander scale.

The Sherman Oaks brick and timber modernist property – listed with agent Christina Hildebrand of Crosby Doe Associates – is perched above LA on a hillside, surrounded by lush gardens.

Views of the city and mountain scenery can be enjoyed from the bands of glazing in its lateral living spaces and roof terrace.
