Peek inside Ader Error’s brutalist Busan store

Cult South Korean design collective Ader Error opened its first stand-alone concept store in Busan, and its gritty subterranean interiors draw on the street.

The label’s in-house design team crafted the outpost. Interiors go big on brutalism – an extension of the rugged, concrete exterior shell of the store’s low-rise building on Seojon-ro.

A discreet street entrance at the street floor leads to a neon-lit staircase and down into the underground retail space, which is backdropped by raw, sandblasted concrete walls and slatted panels. Large mirrors expand the visual plane, with austere furniture and fixtures fabricated from stainless steel and polished metal.

Tufted rugs and bright blue carpeting soften the space and add a postmodern vibe. At the same time, a massive rock formation mounted on wooden pallets feels like an art installation – as does a hanging chandelier made from shards of metal and scraps of fabric, like an art assemblage.
