Minimalist Hudson Valley barn home lists for $1.9m

The Germantown hideaway is part of a new community called Fox Hollow

Industrial loft living gets a rural twist at this contemporary barn house, built by Arcus Developments in New York’s Hudson Valley.

The three-bedroom Germantown property was completed in 2022 as the model home for Fox Hollow – a new community of detached houses on the east bank of the Hudson River by developer Roger Bittenbender. Unlike neighbouring Woodstock or Hudson, Germantown is still relatively unknown beyond Dutchess County but is beginning to attract attention from weekending New Yorkers, including actress Chloë Sevigny.

It is one of just 12 homes on the picturesque 93-acre development and is listed for $1.895m with Annabel Taylor of Four Seasons Sotheby’s International Realty.

It sits on a five-acre plot and is inspired by the agricultural buildings in the surrounding countryside, with a striking dark barn silhouette studded with oversized windows.

Living spaces spread across a single storey, with pitched pine ceilings, wide plank flooring and white walls honing a modern rustic feel. The great room has views of the Catskills and fall scenery on three sides – including through its glazed wall, which peels back to a deck and outdoor pool.
