Live out your Tudor fantasies without sacrificing modern comforts at The Mint in England’s Rye.
The East Sussex holiday home is a half-timber medieval townhouse located in the centre (and oldest part) of the ancient citadel. The three-bedroom cottage’s quaint character has been sensitively restored, and historic charm oozes through exposed brick and crooked wooden beams.
A vast brick inglenook fireplace takes pride of place in the living room and is the symbolic and physical heart of the home. Meanwhile, white-washed bedrooms are located up a set of delightfully worn stairs – each with leaded windows peaking out onto the street or courtyard garden below.
Guests can soak in the roll-top bath before retiring in front of an open fire for the night for a night of slow, simple, but decadent relaxation.
The Mint is available to rent from £350 per night (see Dom Stay for more).
