OEO Studio has transformed the interiors of lighting brand Flos Scandinavia’s Copenhagen showroom – a former tractor workshop in the city’s industrial docklands.
The firm worked with the monolithic architecture of the 500m2 space to create a dramatic environment in which to experience lighting. A staircase acts as a playful display area, while a wooden ‘Cover House’ clad in brick from Danish manufacturer Petersen Tegl offers a domestic space for home lighting.
OeO Studio wanted to ‘ensure the lamps do not overpower the space and turn the showroom into a lamp shop,’ says Thomas Lykke, head of design. Instead it aimed to ‘lure curiosity and creativity’ by ‘enhancing the beauty of the building and creating a beautiful contrast and balance with the refined objects from Flos.’
Bespoke shelving, raw textures and display systems create a play of light and shadow in the space, showing the possibilities of the Flos products.
