Casita Jabin is a tiny pink hut in the middle of the Yucatán jungle

Designed for couples

There’s just enough space for two at this cabin in the Yucatán jungle, which stands out from the trees thanks to its pastel pink walls.

The one-bedroom Mexican holiday home is designed as a contemporary take on the area’s traditional construction techniques and was built using local materials. Casita Jabín is laid out as a pair of stacked cubes, with a living room and outdoor plunge pool downstairs, and a master bedroom on the top floor.

Guests can open the cabin’s wooden shutters in the morning, and enjoy birdsong and a view over the tree canopy. There’s also an open-air shower room which the owner promises will be ‘the best shower of your life’.

The couple’s retreat – available via Airbnb from £68 per night – is in a secluded part of the jungle; however, the city of Valladolid is a 10-minute drive away. There are a few essentials already stocked in the kitchen, including local honey, fresh coffee and a selection of hot sauces.
