Biophilic Lisbon restaurant Seen invites diners to an art-deco forest

Its leafy canopy covers the ceiling

Diners step into a fairytale forest at Lisbon’s Seen, which has a cocktail bar that wraps around a tree trunk and a ceiling covered in leafy branches.

Greenery also bursts out of giant planters at the Lisbon restaurant, which is located in the top floor of the city’s Tivoli Hotel. As well as installing an abundance of plant life, designers Sidney Quintela Architecture + Urban Planning adopted a subtle art deco approach to the interiors, evidently inspired by The Great Gatsby.

Marble and brass drinks trolleys, velvet bar stools and a counter wrapped in decorative metal arches recall the Jazz Age.

Guests can sit beneath Seen’s tree canopy, or cosy up on a snaking green banquette that curves through the restaurant. Outdoor seats have views over the Tagus, which can be enjoyed with an Old Fashioned, or one of Seen’s signature Penicillin cocktails in hand.
