A new fashion and food hub has opened in an East Hampton auto body shop

Online retailer MyTheresa and lifestyle brand Flamingo Estate have turned an automotive service centre into an unconventional retail space and ‘inconvenience’ store.

The Summer Body Shop, as it’s called, transforms a space that was once home to cars and mechanics into a pop-up store filled with high-end goods. Luxury handbags sit atop stacks of tyres, swimming costumes hang from pegboards (alongside the odd spanner and screwdriver), and lifestyle products perch on oil drums.

The entire space has been given a fresh coat of mint green paint for the summer, which includes the walls, floor, and even the tyres.

Wooden shelves at the front of the garage serve as a dedicated ‘inconvenience’ store for Flamingo Estate – so-called because it’s stocked with products made using more traditional and often slower methods.

The Summer Body Shop is open until the end of July at 9 Railroad Ave, East Hampton, NY.
