Vipp adds another guesthouse to its portfolio – this time on the Danish Coast

Slow living meets Scandi surf style

A historic fisherman’s cottage in Thy National Park has become the latest Vipp holiday rental, aimed at surf enthusiasts and anyone longing for a dose of slow living.

Thy National Park is located in northwest Jutland, with the Danish guest house occupying a remote coastal plot that’s far from neighbours but close to the waves, which have earned the area the fitting nickname, ‘Cold Hawaii’ for its 31 registered surf spots.

Local architecture studio Hahn Lavsen and designer Julie Cloos Mølsgaard designed the cottage, which is dubbed Vipp Cold Hawaii, in honour of its setting, creating interiors that sit somewhere between rural and minimal.

Brick floors and whitewashed walls feel like holdovers from its time as a humble fisherman’s cottage, although the metal kitchen, chrome dining chairs and pumpkin-shaped footstools,  all by Vipp, of course, are clearly in the realm of contemporary design.

There’s room for eight people to stay at the Danish holiday home, with sofas, beds and even the kitchen (Vipp’s V3 metal model) situated to make the most of the surrounding view. Vipp Cold Hawaii starts at €545 a night – although if it’s fully booked, the brand also has guesthouses in Puglia, Norway and Andorra. Bring your own surfboard.
