Accessible only by boat or plane, Clairview Island is a 660-acre slice of tropical paradise located off the Queensland coast that’s rich in wildlife with unspoiled natural terrain. Now, the private idyll is for sale via Richard Vanhoff from Private Islands Online for $6.9m AUD.
The island is separated from the mainland by an estuary and is wrapped in seven km of white sandy beaches. This particular stretch of the Queensland coast is great for whale watching as they migrate from Antarctica to the tropics, while barramundi, mud crabs and dugongs also call the waters home.
Clairview Island is presently home to an existing beach shack, which is used as a weekend getaway for the current owners. According to the listing agent, there’s potential to build up to five separate dwellings on the island as it is being sold freehold, unlike most private Australian islands, meaning there’s ‘greater potential for development compared to lease hold islands.’
