It was significant news when Saint Laurent opened its Miami flagship store in 2016—the same year Anthony Vaccarello was appointed the fashion brand’s creative director—choosing the burgeoning Design District as its home base. Now, Vaccarello has given the location a vibrant revamp that instils the fashion house’s DNA into its interiors for a new era.

Miami has quickly established itself as a fashion and art destination, and Vaccarello’s interventions bring a retro-futuristic feel to the boutique. Raw materials such as rough concrete rub shoulders with polished surfaces, including brown spider, giallo siena, black cosmic, and blue lumen marbles, to create an elevated shopping experience. With corduroy concrete walls and terrazzo flooring underfoot, the space feels both industrial and homely, heightened by an injection of colour from glazed ceramic tiles arranged as a dramatic artwork and the warmth of custom-made carpets.

Guests can relax in a range of vintage furniture that imbues the store with the feeling of a private home. There are pieces and objects by mid-century icons George Nakashima, Pierre Jeanneret, Carlo and Afra Scarpa, Mario Botta, Gaetano Pesce, Jorge Zalszupin, Charles and Ray Eames, and Paul Poiret.

A monolithic black wooden staircase connects the upper level, where two VIP rooms are positioned, offering access to the rooftop for an intimate private shopping experience. Of course, Vaccarello’s latest collection of ready-to-wear garments, handbags, shoes, and accessories is all on display.
