The Dwell House is part of Dwellbox, located in Sugarcreek in Amish Country. The village is known as the ‘Little Switzerland’ of Ohio thanks to its alpine-inspired architecture, cheese making and famous town cuckoo-clock, all brought to the valley by Swiss-German settlers.

Lush grassy hills and wooded valleys surround the property, and these views are celebrated via oversized windows and corner nooks and a large rooftop terrace atop the boxy building. It’s a modern spin on the Alpine style, with a vertical layout and dark-clad exterior.

Inside, exposed brick, wood panelling and dark colours lend the US holiday home a rustic feel, emphasised by woodburning stoves, leather sofas, bespoke cabinetry and contemporary furnishings. Dwell House starts from $425 per night and sleeps up to 12 across, with bedrooms outfitted with mattresses made by local Amish craftsmen.

There are plenty of local hiking trails and natural beauty spots, including the picturesque Dundee Falls surrounding the holiday home, as well as farms, wine cellars and breweries. Hillcrest Orchard (the owners’ family orchard) is adjacent for fresh fruit and locally grown vegetables.
