30 June 2020: In Chicago GAP has announced the first stage of its Magnificent Mile store redesign – wrapping its exterior in a giant letter penned by Kanye West.
It’s part of a freshly-inked partnership between the retailer and West’s YEEZY brand, which is reported to last for the next 10 years. It will see the artist and his design team create a collaborative range of co-branded clothing, set to debut in 2021.

Ahead of this, West is evidently overhauling the Magnificent Mile store – which, his letter reveals, is where he once shopped himself. The letter hints that he’s chosen a new colour palette for the retail space, as well as a possibly Tron-inspired design approach.
‘This is the GAP store I used to shop at when I would drive my Nissan from the Southside’, says Yeezy.
