Whitewashed buildings and private pools with panoramic views make Kalesma Mykonos a soothing spot away from the island’s crowds.

The island hotel is designed and arranged to resemble a Greek village in miniature, with individual suites following the geometric forms of traditional homes.

Architectural practice K-Studio oversaw the building, placing rooms lower down the sloped site and the hotel’s communal pool at the top of the ridge. Guests can sunbathe next to views over the Aegean Sea, and as evening falls watch the sunset over the nearby Delos Island.

Interior designer Vangelis Bonios has kept to a minimal aesthetic for Kalesma’s suites, breaking up their smooth shapes with latticed walls.

Inside, rooms are decked out in dark tiles and timber beams, with bamboo reed ceilings and handcrafted furniture adding some texture to the spaces. Bathrooms with sunken tubs open onto balconies, and bedrooms have glass doors that open up to let the views in. Rooms at the Mykonos idyll start at just over £1,000 per night.
