Hyundai has unveiled its high-performance hydrogen fuel cell, hybrid-concept car, the N Vision 74, which draws on the Korean brand’s classic 1970s vehicles.

The retro-futuristic car is inspired in particular by Hyundai Motor’s 1974 Pony Coupe, developed by Italian pioneer Giorgetto Giugiaro, who later designed the iconic Delorean DMC-12.

Outwardly the N Vision 74 picks up the mantle from the Coupe: its angular, gun-metal body has serious RoboCop vibes. The aesthetic is further emphasised by Hyundai’s sci-fi editorial shoot, which features pelting rain, glistening tarmac and moody nighttime fog. Its interior, meanwhile, has a piston-shaped cockpit, borrowed from the Pony, updated in a contemporary colour scheme.

Specs-wise, the N Vision 74 puts out 670 hp and reaches a top speed of 155 mph. Its hydrogen fuel tank can be refilled in just 5 minutes, while the 62.4 kWh battery pack boasts 800V fast-charging, giving it a range of about 600 km.
