Graft Architects’ Berlin apartment is a brutalist beauty with pops of colour

The tactile Mitte bolthole is packed with texture

Graft Architects put a sophisticated spin on brutalism inside this Berlin apartment, curated by Fantastic Frank.

The third-floor Mitte property spans 147 sq m with views out across the city from its floor-to-ceiling windows – if you can tear your eyes away from the interiors, that is. Colour is unleashed in powerful bursts, with a pistachio fireplace in the living room commanding attention alongside a burnt orange sofa and puffy lounge chair by Faye Toogood.

Smooth concrete pillars are exposed with sleek, stainless steel cabinetry and a marble island heightening the minimalist vibe in the Boffi K21 kitchen. Dinesen floorboards run across the apartment, which has concealed storage to maintain clean sightlines to the south-facing balcony. Bedrooms have views over the building’s interior courtyard, planted with greenery.

The freshly constructed Berlin apartment is one of two residencies in the building, dubbed Graft Labs, and is listed with Fantastic Frank for €2.2m. The architecture practice will also be move into the building, which has a city centre location next to St Elisabeth church and opposite the Pappelplatz.
