Green Indian granite adds striking jewel tones to this Amritsar cafe, which leaves diners feeling as if they’ve stepped inside an emerald.
From the coffered ceilings to the fluted walls, almost every part of Elgin Cafe is decked out in a rich green colour. Architecture and design practice Studio Renesa oversaw the cafe’s interiors, having been briefed to create ‘an atmosphere and feel of the outdoors, where you would find yourself surrounded by greenery, natural wood, food spots, and conversations.’
The team sourced the brightly coloured granite from Udaipur in Rajasthan and paired it with wicker armchairs and caramel leather banquettes. Gold-coloured wall lights and sprays of greenery – also in emerald-toned pots – add contrast to the space.
Elgin Cafe is divided up into a cafe area, a private dining room, separated from the rest of the restaurant with folding shutters, and a bar space, where guests sit on high chairs at a shared table.
