Fashion designer Bella Freud has turned her hand to interior design, crafting the 1970s-inspired stylings of a duplex apartment inside west London’s BBC Television Centre.

The three-bedroom London property is being jointly marketed via Savills and Strutt & Parker for £3.925m and is a collaboration between Freud, Maria Speake – co-founder of architectural salvage and design company, Retrouvius – and interior architects Piercy & Company.

Helios 710, or Bella’s Apartment, features vast windows, wide terraces and a floating staircase. The 2,202 sq ft bolthole is furnished with vintage pieces sourced by Retrouvius as well as wall-hung rugs and bedspreads which duplicate the texts and illustrations found on Freud’s famous knitwear. Subversive ceramic plates by the artist Eliza Hopewell also dot its walls.

Its bold colour palette is inspired by 1970s glamour, and this vintage-meets-new aesthetic encapsulates Freud’s signature irreverent style.

‘It’s a bit porny, rock ‘n’ roll and Seventies,’ Speake said at the property’s launch yesterday. ‘We didn’t want it to look quaint, we chose pieces that amused us and caught our eye.’
