A moody maroon palette and Victorian-style flourishes pay tribute to Yorkville’s architecture at Aesop’s newly opened store in the well-heeled Toronto neighbourhood.
Designed by local practice Odami, the retail store adopts a minimal design approach, except for its ‘spindle’ mouldings. Reminiscent of historical bannisters, they run around the whole interior of the store, patterning walls and seating.
Aesop says the Yorkville shop – which joins the brand’s ever-growing collection of idiosyncratic, global retail locations – is ‘anchored by a sense of warmth’. Its dark red palette is offset by a vast white counter, white flooring and, of course, Aesop’s distinctive black and white bottles. A trio of eye-catching white cylinders also hold the store’s library of aromas.
The space is designed to resemble a ‘bustling town square’, says the skincare brand, with smaller spaces for people to congregate within the store. It’s the third Aesop store to open in Toronto.
