Frank Lloyd Wright’s Baker House will appeal to bookworms: it has space for a home library thanks to its shelf-lined living room, which rises two storeys high.
The architect designed the five-bedroom Illinois property in 1909, but this is the first time it has been on the market in over 60 years.
As well as its extra tall living space, the prairie-style Wilmette home has plenty of original features including a 22-ft-long dining room with a pitched ceiling and brick fireplaces. Dark wooden floors run throughout, as do diamond leaded windows.
It’s listed with @properties for $849,900 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
