A wall of glass runs across the living room of this 1957 house by Danish architect Bent Alstrup, placing a landscaped pond almost directly in front of the interior. The house stands in Rungsted Kyst, where Alstrup arranged its 180 square metres across a series of split levels. In the main living room, Oregon pine and mahogany cover the walls and a slatted-timber ceiling runs towards the glass. Beyond it, the pond fills the view, edged by mature trees and planting.

Timber continues through the dining room, staircase and built-in cabinetry, with Greenlandic marble also used inside. The changes in level are visible throughout the house, including around the central timber stair.

From across the pond, its architecture appears as a collection of low brick and timber volumes beneath an asymmetrical roof. A greenhouse projects into the garden at the water’s edge, with terraces and planting gathered around it.

The house sits on a 500sqm plot and accommodates four rooms. It is currently listed with Adam Schnack for DKK 25 million.
