Selfridges is hosting a colourful Courvoisier pop-up bar until 10 September, designed by the master of maximalism, Yinka Ilori, and inspired by France’s Cognac region.

Ilori designed a bird-cage pavilion for the London bar, creating a canopy of wavy lines that are said to mimic the reflections of the Charente River in Jarnac, where the famous cognac brand is founded.

A gradient colour scheme of orange, blue and yellow imbues the space, with the rippling lines of the bar echoing across the walls, evoking the dancing river waters.

The bar features a lacquered, bright orange countertop with scalloped edges and yellow bar stools. In contrast, sofas and plinths feature floral tiling in a more subdued yellow and brown pattern, inlaid with a buttercup design – a nod to the wildflower fields around Jarnac.

The Courvoisier x Yinka Ilori pop-up bar runs until 10 September in The Wonder Room at Selfridges London.
