Visit the triple-threat of Lagerfeld, Memphis and Francesco Vezzoli, in Monaco this spring

For his third solo show at Almine Rech Monaco, the Italian pop artist Francesco Vezzoli has galvanised fans of Karl Lagerfeld by recreating an obscure period from the life of the late fashion designer. Karl Goes to Memphis commemorates the years, starting in the early 1980s, when Lagerfeld kept a Monaco home decorated almost entirely in the Memphis style popularised by founder Ettore Sottsass. Rebuilt with loans from Memphis Milano, the suite of rooms at Almine Rech communicates the combined brilliance of the two creative forces. The rooms, on view from 20 March 24  May 24, are accessorised with embroidered portraits of the young Lagerfeld by Vezzoli himself.

Furnishings include the Carlton bookshelf by Ettore Sottsass, Super table lamp by Martine Bedin, Pierre table by George J. Sowden, Oceanic table lamp by Michele De Lucchi and even the Tawaraya Ring by Masanori Umeda.
