Wooden shutters wrap around this Miami home, which looks onto the surrounding palm trees from a 100-ft long glass front.

Known eponymously as the Brillhart House after its architect-owners,  the Miami property is only five years old, and was inspired by American glass pavilion typology and Florida Modernism. It’s laid out like a cube, raised off the ground to appear as if floating above its 330-ft-long plot.

The louvred front protects from the wind and sun and also creates a sizeable front terrace. Four sets of doors mean the contemporary home – listed with Compass for $1.9m – can completely open up to the outdoors.

Inside, Brillhart Architects has contrasted the house’s glass walls with various types of wood, including reclaimed cherry, oak and red cypress. Two bedrooms are arranged on the left-hand side of the property, and open-plan living spaces on the right.

In case its future owners are in need of some extra space, there are existing plans for a new master bedroom and pool.
