This industrial duplex in Paris captures the art of loft-living

The modular space has four bedrooms and plenty of room to work

A vast factory conversion with authentic industrial character near Canal St-Martin in Paris is available to buy for €2.785m through Architecture de Collection. The duplex loft in the 10th arrondissement was converted from the original Victorian-era layout in 2000. It now spans 300 sq m across two floors, with four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths and a double-height ceiling over the kitchen.

Situated on the third storey of the 1880s building, the main level has a wide-open plan showered with natural light from banks of windows. With a bedroom, en suite and separate office space just beyond the communal areas, the entire floor could function as a place of business on weekdays.

An open staircase leads to a semi-private mezzanine level — the fourth storey in the complex, where there are three additional bedrooms. Between them are a den, office nook and dressing room, along with two full bathrooms, all in the same ‘brut’ style as the main level.

The Paris property is a short walk from the Eurostar terminal at Gare du Nord and, in the other direction, the amusements at Basin de la Villette, in a neighbourhood rich with green spaces and street life.
