One of the first French restaurants in London has reopened (after a two year makeover) with grand aplomb under Soho House. Taking over a historic Georgian building, the standalone hotel, public restaurant and Champagne bar has been given the usual Soho House lick of paint – louche interiors, a late night license – charged with an atmosphere of an old French bistro (fun fact: Kettner’s Townhouse remained open through both world wars, the restaurant and Champagne Bar saw visitors including Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, Oscar Wilde, Bing Crosby and Margaret Thatcher). Upstairs, there are 33 bedrooms (like the one in shot) all gussied up in French boudoir style with original Georgian timber floorboards, fireplaces, vintage pieces and chandeliers. Open today.
