I’m really glad my local library isn’t photogenic. It’s kind of dark and utilitarian in an 80s way. No beautiful light falling on mezzanine stacks or velvet fainting couches. Only the sheen of fake wood veneer and the shared looks of laptop people that refuse to hang out in Starbucks. In fact, sometimes I even go in there without my phone and only leave with books. #theprettycities #interiorinstagram

Siège du Parti communiste français | Oscar Niemeyer | 1961-80 | Paris, FR A few months ago, I got the privilege to visit this building designed by Brazilian legendary architect Oscar Niemeyer in Paris. I was used seeing all day when I was a student in Paris because it is close to the university. Finally, I got the chance to come back to Paris in June and have a complete experience, from the ground floor to the top of the building.

To the man biking on my street every single day at exactly 7:45am and 6pm with soothing delightful jazz music playing out loud in the streets from his speaker on his way to and back from work – thank you for these lovely couple of seconds each day as I always look forward to hearing you pass by my windows. It makes me pause, listen attentively as I hear you coming from a block away, and appreciate the little things in life that tend to go unnoticed. Where the hell did that come from?
