Madurai | palace maintenance _ In its heyday – from about 1636 AD – Tirumalai Nayak Palace was considered to be one of the wonders of the South. Built in a blend of indigenous and Islamic style to be the grandest in South India and still famous for its giant pillars. The audience chamber is a vast hall, open to a central courtyard with arcades about 12 m high, finished in smooth stucco, still splendid and in beautiful contrast to the natural stone floors. _ #mytinyatlasINDIA @tinyatlasquarterly @kamalantravels
