Rustic Puglian countryside retreat Tenuta Masseriola comes to market

The restored Trullo has eight hectares outside Carovigno and offers income as a holiday let

Nature reserves, rolling countryside and the coast are all on the doorstep of this serene Puglian holiday home, wrapped in eight hectares of olive groves just outside Carovigno.

Tenuta Masseriola is a traditional Apuglian Trullo with a twist: the limestone dwelling has a canonical roof and drystone walls – a hallmark of the region’s architecture – but its interiors are crisp and modern, with just a hint of rustic.

The Puglian property is inspired by mother project, Masserie Moroseta, founded by Carlo Lanzini and designed by Studio Andrew Trotter, and similarly, Tenuta Masseriola is a melding of old and new. Its historic circular stone Trullo was painstakingly restored and adjoined by two modern volumes, collectively housing four ensuite bedrooms, five bathrooms and a large kitchen/dining room.

Bedrock and old-world stone backdrop contemporary furniture and finishes across the four-bedroom villa, accommodating up to eight guests. The Trullo comes with a wealth of modern comforts, too – air conditioning, central heating and an inbuilt alarm system – the most spectacular of which is the stunning outdoor saltwater pool, which stretches between the villa’s olive trees, backdropped by panoramic vistas of the landscape. There are sleek stone terraces for sunbathing, al fresco dining, and careful landscaping, which beds the Puglian property into its rugged red earth terrain.

Tenuta Masseriola is listed for sale directly priced at €1.5m (enquiries can be directed to info@morosetahomes.it). The Puglian holiday home is under the management of the Moroseta Homes Group – we featured it as our holiday home of the week back at the end of 2019 – and according to management, it’s generated a net income of €60,000 since welcoming its first guests.

The Torre Guaceto natural reserve, where you’ll also find the nearest beach, is just 7 km away, and while extremely private, the hideaway isn’t remote. The town of Carovigno is nearby, and a short 15-minute drive will take you to Ostuni, famed for its white-washed Gothic, Romanesque and Byzantine architecture.
