Property of the week: a historic Swedish apartment overlooking the sea

Combining contemporary and interwar features

Painted ceilings and stained-glass windows are some the decorative details inside this 1929 Swedish home overlooking the sea.

Bengt Langhs Street 5 – in the southern coastal town of Helsingborg – is a patrician villa that comprises four apartments, overlooking the sound and out towards Denmark. This ground floor bolthole retains a cache of its original features, which have been woven into its recently refreshed design.

Parquet floors, wood panelling and towering coffered ceilings contrast freshly painted walls and a sleek new kitchen.

The Swedish property – on the market via agent Malin Jangeroth of Bjurfors for 6.89m kr – leads out onto a private terrace overlooking the water, while the garden has a trail that leads down to the National Promenade and Pålsjö forest beyond.
